I have varied experience with pre-marital, couples, Discernment, Couples Intensives, and family counseling. Whether you’re experiencing deep rupture from infidelity or simply feeling lack of connection over unproductive communication patterns, I can help you create a stronger system, one that utilizes conflict to grow together rather than apart.

Helping Couples Rebuild Trust, Improve Communication, and Strengthen Connection

Every relationship encounters periods of strain. Sometimes the challenge is a specific rupture, such as infidelity or betrayal. Other times, couples find themselves caught in recurring arguments, emotional distance, resentment, or communication patterns that leave both partners feeling misunderstood and alone.

Couples counseling provides a space to slow down these cycles, better understand what is happening beneath the conflict, and begin creating new ways of relating to one another.

At Life Lab Counseling, I work with couples throughout Spokane and Washington State who want to strengthen their relationship.

Couples Counseling After Infidelity

Few experiences are as painful to a relationship as discovering an affair or other significant breach of trust.

While every situation is unique, many couples want to understand what happened, determine whether repair is possible, and learn how to move forward with honesty and integrity.

Therapy can provide a structured space to process the impact of betrayal, improve communication, and evaluate what healing may require for each partner.

Premarital Counseling

Strong relationships benefit from intentional preparation.

Premarital counseling helps couples explore communication styles, conflict patterns, expectations, finances, family influences, and long-term goals before marriage. The process can strengthen an already healthy relationship and help identify areas that deserve additional attention before future challenges arise.

Discernment Counseling

Not every couple arrives with the same goal.

Sometimes one partner is considering separation or divorce while the other hopes to preserve the relationship. In these situations, traditional couples therapy may not be the best starting point.

Discernment Counseling is a specialized process designed to help couples gain clarity about the future of their relationship before deciding whether to pursue intensive relationship work, separate, or continue exploring their options. I have created a specific, insight-driven program to help couples determine the viability of their relationship and how best to pursue it.

Couples Intensives

For some couples, a traditional weekly therapy format is not enough. Couples Intensives provide extended sessions that allow partners to work more deeply and efficiently on longstanding concerns.

Intensives can be particularly helpful for couples facing significant relationship distress, communication breakdowns, or major decisions about the future of their relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take sides during couples counseling?

No. My role is to understand the relationship system and help both partners better understand themselves, one another, and the patterns that contribute to distress.

Can couples counseling help if we’re considering divorce?

Yes. In some cases, couples therapy may be appropriate. In others, Discernment Counseling can help determine the most appropriate next step.

How long does couples counseling take?

The length of therapy varies depending on the goals, history, and needs of each couple. Some couples seek short-term support around a specific concern, while others choose a longer-term process focused on deeper relationship growth.
